The third line-up saw a replacement bass player brought in to start the recording of the third album 'Long Live Rock 'n' Roll.' However the line-up was very short lived.

Clarke was felt to be unsuitable, while Carey's life was made such a misery by Blackmore & Powell that he fled the band never to be seen by them again! For more on this story read the interviews with Cozy & Ritchie in issues 5 & 10 respectively.

An interview with Mark Clarke about his time in the band was published in issue 8

This line-up never performed live.
