On
the eve of an American tour Bürgi handed in his notice for a more lucrative gig
with Enrique Iglesias! He was replaced by John Micelli. The band played its
final gig at the Esbjerg Festival in Denmark. Former Rainbow drummer Cozy Powell
was also at the festival and the possibility of him guesting during the encore
was discussed but never happened.
Blackmore
then headed off to Germany to promote his new album 'Shadow Of The Moon'
recorded with his girlfriend Candice Night under the moniker of Blackmore's
Night. This developed into a full blown project which has been Blackmore's
direction ever since.
Will
Esbjerg prove to be the last ever Rainbow gig?
